Module Media | An innovative web design and application development firm with a passion for web standards

We're an innovative company who make ideas come to life.

Hello we're Module Media

Module Media is a forward thinking, innovative website design and application development company with a passion for web standards. Founded in 1998, Module Media remains at the forefront of design, development, and training by offering depth of expertise in multiple industries, including financial services, media and entertainment, information technology, telecommunications, retail and consumer products, healthcare, manufacturing, and education.

We love working with companies that have a passion for new ideas, especially ones that push us to build solutions that integrate forward-thinking and innovative technologies. With over two decades of combined web design, application and identity development experience and a firm grasp on our industry's most advanced technologies and trends, we have the experience and talent that few firms can match. We also understand that because every area of business is becoming increasingly competitive you need a creative and experienced alli to help you differentiate your company within this marketplace.

Our emphasis has always been to provide superior and innovative solutions for our clients. We understand that your company, your brand, and your product should be a dialogue between you and your customers. It's our job to ensure that the communication is clear, efficient and meaningful.

Our approach: You could say that we're RAD

Module Media is a multi-disciplined firm that creates websites and custom web applications with the best available technologies. We work with Open Source and Enterprise server-side technologies to make sure that your project is built quickly and within budget. How? Well, you could say that we're RAD! Rapid Application Development (RAD), is a methodology that we use for streamlining the traditional analysis, design, development, and test phases into a series of short, iterative cycles. This provides a number of distinct advantages for our clients over the traditional development model which follows a rigid sequence of steps with a formal sign-off at the completion of each.

In the past, designing and programming for the web was tedious and time-consuming. Typically a project could not start until a set of requirements was written, diagrams and wireframes were drawn, and considerable preliminary documentation was produced. It was then that development could move into the design phase, followed by development and testing. As the requirements evolved or when a feature was added, also known as scope creep, existing code usually had to be partly rewritten. This process is known as refactoring and was common practice in web development.  The overall process became slow, inefficient, and in some cases unproductive.

Today, business moves faster, and clients tend to change their minds more frequently over the course of a project’s development cycle. They expect a firm that can adapt to their needs and modify the structure of an application quickly. Fortunately, the use of modern scripting languages, improved development tools, and up-to-date support within browsers allow us to apply other programming strategies, such as rapid application development. One of the ideas of these methodologies is to start developing as early as possible so that you can review a working prototype and offer additional direction. The application then gets built in an iterative process, releasing increasingly feature-rich versions in short development cycles. Bottom line, you get exactly what you want...fast and error free!

It's all about the User Experience (UX)

By the time you get to reading this paragraph, we assume that you've been seduced by the simplicity of our website, the design, the detail, the message, how easy it is to find what you want, you're sold, you're only moments away from getting in touch, right? That's what User Experience (UX) is. It's about making you feel good about the brand or service, interacting with it and delivering the message successfully.

But where's the ROI in UX? There's a reason why companies like Boeing, Google, BMW, Amazon, and Bloomberg invest in UX. First, it's a key technology enabler and market differentiator. The goal of most applications is to improve productivity and operational efficiency. This can only be achieved by tailoring the application to users (not the other way round). Second, because UX adds to the value of a product. Studies across industries show that every Dollar invested in UX yields between $2 and $100 in return.

Web standards and accessibility

As web developers, if we all work together to standardize code we can make the web a better place to be. We do this by working with the W3C and writing valid code.

W3C ApprovedWe really care about meaningful semantic mark-up as a cornerstone of the accessibility and usability of our websites. We believe in making websites and applications that are usable by people of all abilities. We do this by providing users with meaningful well-structured markup, machine readable links and text equivalents for images. We also make sure that any client-side scripting used progressively enhances the existing site and isn’t required.

Our sites are designed to be accessible to as many users as reasonably possible. As guidance we follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) produced by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). Read our accessibility statement for more information.

Google loves us and we can get them to love you too

Google Loves us. No, seriously, they do and we can get them to love you too! The reason for this is simple, we make websites which are easy for Google to search and index. That's why we get great natural search results for our clients. We have a "white hat" approach to SEO. We believe that Google is our friend and that the way to achieve a great position in a search engine result is by producing and refining good, meaningful content and not by spending countless amounts of money on short-term ad clicks.

"Black hat practitioners tend to see search engine optimization as a war, and search engines and SEOs as the enemy. The white hat approach is either to ignore search engines altogether, or to treat search engines in a friendly way." - Mikkel deMib Svendsen
